The Municipal Chief Executive of the Nzema East Municipal, Hon. Frank Okpenyen through the Ministry of Education and the Municipal Assemblyon Wednesday march 31, 2021 distributed 180 dual desks to some basic schools in the municipality.
This donation is part of government commitment to ensure quality education in the municipality.
In his presentation, the MCE Hon. Frank Okpenyen,listed some schools which have been commissioned and the need to supply them with furniture. Heacknowledged the challenges in the municipal regarding furniture deficit and added that they are doing their best to bridge that gap.
“Government has done its best beginning this year especially in this municipality, couple of schools have been commissioned starting with Yediyesele MA JHS, AkonuAgyan Primary School and few others would follow soon.
These schools need furniture in order to ensure quality education, create comfortable environment and ease the burden of children sitting on the floor to learn. Schools which benefitted from the first phase of the distribution include GwiraBansoPrimary School,GwiraAssuowaPrimary Schooland NdatiemPrimary School.
Others are YediyeselePrimary School, AgonaPrimary School, Nsein (AwulaeAgyefi Kwame School), Akonu/AgyanPrimary School and AttakromPrimary School.
He pleaded with teachers and School management committee to ensure the maintenance of the desks to avoid the assembly incurring extra cost in repairing them.
Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiary schools, the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Nathaniel KwofieAffum added that without furniture, it would be difficult for the kids to study and do other work assigned to them and reiterated further that the furniture has come in due time as a relief to the education directorate.
He advised the heads of schools to take good care of the desks in the possible way they can.
Other dignitariespresent at the short ceremony were the MunicipalCoordinating Director, Mr. Daniel BentumEssel, Municipal Presiding Member, Nana EffateBeyeeman and Assistant Education Director in charge of supervision, Madam Esther Abbey.
