The Municipal Chief Executive for the Nzema East Municipality, Hon. Frank Okpenyen has commissioned a new 3-unit classroom block comprising an office and an ICT center for Yediyesele Junior High School to reduce infrastructure challenges facing the school.
The school block which is connected to the National Grid was started by the former Member of Parliament, Hon.Catherine Abelema Afeku has successfully been completed by the MCE.
In his address the MCE, Hon Frank Okpenyen said “ in order to ensure safety in our various schools during this Covid pandemic, I have distributed over 18000 nose masks, veronica buckets ,hand sanitizers, and government school uniforms to some schools in the municipality including the pupils of Yediyesele Junior High School. For schools to be quality, accessible and affordable, we need to provide infrastructure to make teaching and learning easy”.
He appealed to parents to advise their children to observe the various safety protocols in order to protect themselves from Covid 19.
He also admonished the pupils to take their studies seriously in order to benefit from the free SHS programme.
Hon. Frank Okpenyen promised to continue all the developmental projects the former MP and the NPP government started and also lobby for more projects for the municipality. He reiterated that he is liasing with GIFEC to aquire computers for the school.
The Acting Municipal Director of Education, Mr Blay Ackah stressed on the need to obey Covid 19 laid down protocols and calls for maintenance culture of the school. He explained that it is the responsibility of everyone to maintain safety and proper care of the school block.
In showing appreciation, the chief of Yediyesele, Nana Kwame Essoah III, commended the NPP government, the former MP, Hon. Catherine Abelema Afeku and the MCE for such timely intervention. He stated that it is only the NPP government which brings developmental projects in the town anytime it comes to power. “It is through the NPP government that we have electricity, primary school block and now JHS block” he added.
He outlined the extraordinary work done and the cordial relationship that existed between the MCE and former MP and added that since one good deed deserves another, he appealed to the President, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to retain Hon. Frank Okpenyen as the MCE to continue his good works.
He also appealed to the government and the municipal assembly to supply the school with Mono Desks as a matter of urgency to ease congestion in the classrooms.
